ON REQUEST
Entered at 4:00pm on December 11th, 2008
Someone asked me how accurate I do portraits, and because it is always on commissions it is not more than fair that I try to upload some verification or something, so who ever want a portrait will know if it is worth it or not….smile. So it is up to you to judge if it is good enough or not.

I have decided to show the in-laws ( you find the portrait in the portfolio) coz the other persons I don’t have any photos of, well my son but he is too old now.

HOW I BECOME AN ARTIST
Entered at 1:42pm on September 17th, 2008
Referring to one of my groups’ discussion about how one started to paint etc.

In Sweden it is obligatory to do art until the end of 9th grade. From 7th grade one can also chose to add more art, which I tried to but didn’t get until the 9th grade because of too few students wanted to do it. Anyway, then in 10th grade it is very different compare to US, in Sweden the student make a choice of education that is connected to their future work. As for me, I had too little grades (was obnoxious, rebellious teenager, and lost my mother that last year, so I was numb = didn’t care to be responsible for my education in other words). Anyhow, my aunt said you going to school anyway, so the only thing I could chose was between farming and horticulture/landscaping; I choose the last one.

So I ended up being a gardener/landscaper until 2004. I gain more education in horticulture/landscaping over the time, even went back to school in -96 and redid the 8 and 9 grade and added a compact of 10 - 12 grades higher/advanced courses of math, Swedish, English, biology, social studies etc. After that I did some years at the university.

Back to painting…smile. I divorced 1994 and picked up my painting, drawing again and from there until I moved to Texas, I did that off and on. While over here, I did a course and some seminars in Landmark and there I got some good tips about having integrity (keeping word to oneself and others) by doing a promise in one of the courses to do art of any kind EVERY day during the course. I learned that even if I didn’t felt for doing art one day that I still could do art, by study art; making sketch of others art, do coloring books…..anything. I have never been as creative as I was during that time.

I have been painting and done drawings etc but the last year I kind of gave up, because they all ended up on the shelves for no use so I created a story about that and got sad. So my big creativity is on slow, but I am getting back on the horse now by finally putting them out and being part of this community. I get so inspired by every one in here…..there are so much I want to try and to do. There are so many pictures in my head.

Anyway, that’s my story….

DIGITAL FRAMES
Entered at 9:32pm on September 9th, 2008
I have got the question about how I made the digital framings to my art. So I will try to explain it in a blog. I hope you will understand my explanation and if not then just ask me.

I am using Paint Shop 7, you can dowload it for free, at least you could do that before. I have the unlimit time free version.

This is how I do the frame.

I start with Choosing a color from the photo and I use the tool dropper and right click. The color I chose depends how the image look like, if I want to chose a mat in a light color or a darker or just go directly to creating the frame without a mat. Why I right click to chose the color is because of the next step, to add the border. That I find under Image. It comes up a small window where I can chose how thick/ thin the border will be.

After that is done I use the select tool and by holding down the left click and drag it; I select from the inside of the left top corner of the border to the opposit down right inside corner of the border. I have the selector set on option Rectangle. Then after that is done I go to Selection and chose Invert. Now I can start working on the frame/border.

By going to Effects I can chose to make 3d drop shadow, inner bevel etc. This step can also be done last. The texture on the frame is made by choosing any texture effect that I think fit. Some of them I have done; I have chose even straw as an effect. I can blur or sharpen if I feel it is needed. I try to be careful to not have a frame that takes over the actually image, being a eye catcher.

Remember that when you work with pictures on the computer, always copy the original and then work with the copy to play with, resize etc. Save the original in one file and the copies in a special file, you can name it Artistful.com, so they always will be easy to find.

I make my images smaller than the original because I have noticed that if you dont have a fast internet it will take forever with a larger size. So I uselly keep it around 500 - 800 pix.

Well, that is all I can remember for now. Good Luck
Hugs.

FINALLY FRIDAY
Entered at 7:20pm on September 5th, 2008
I was just thinking that I could add the Yahoo 360 where I put up my blogs when I have anything on my mind to say). The other webplace is my website which I have been using for a couple of years to add my art and photos.
You are welcome to visit there if you like.
Because the right click/copy/past doesnt work here you will have to use the top of the windows help tools there. First highlight the link, left click and hold it down and drag it over the text that you want to copy, and then click on Page and a roll down window will drop down there you chose copy, or just click on ctrl + C and then you paste, which is ctrl + V, it in the http area...I have no clue what that is called...he he.

First the 360 yahoo:
